Overview

Ab501 is a research-grade monoclonal antibody that serves as a murine surrogate for certolizumab pegol, a TNF-alpha inhibitor. It is specifically utilized in preclinical research, such as the collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model in DBA/1 mice, to evaluate the therapeutic potential of TNF-alpha blockade on inflammatory and structural outcomes. Studies have demonstrated that Ab501 can effectively control inflammation and prevent arthritis-induced bone loss and mechanical degradation when administered in both preventive and early therapeutic settings. By neutralizing murine TNF-alpha, Ab501 mimics the clinical mechanism of certolizumab, making it a valuable tool for studying the pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis and the systemic effects of anti-TNF therapy in vivo.
