AK801 is a selective small molecule inhibitor of Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) developed by Akeso Biopharma. It is designed for the treatment of various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis and atopic dermatitis. By selectively targeting JAK1, AK801 modulates the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting the signaling of several key pro-inflammatory cytokines while potentially avoiding the side effects associated with the inhibition of other JAK family members (JAK2, JAK3, and TYK2), such as anemia or neutropenia.
