Overview

ALD-102 is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy developed by Aldena Therapeutics (now part of Alys Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of alopecia areata. It is formulated as an intradermal injectable solution designed to provide local and selective modulation of inflammation in the skin by targeting Janus kinase 1 (JAK1). JAK1 is a key driver of the inflammatory response that leads to hair follicle destruction in alopecia areata. By silencing JAK1 expression locally in the scalp, ALD-102 aims to restore hair growth while minimizing the systemic side effects often associated with oral JAK inhibitors. The therapy is currently undergoing Phase 1/2 clinical evaluation to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy in adults with alopecia areata.
