A combination of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), a retinoid that promotes cell differentiation, and rituximab, a CD20-directed monoclonal antibody. ATRA works by binding to retinoic acid receptors (RAR) and retinoid X receptors (RXR), causing immature blood cells to develop into normal blood cells. Rituximab targets the CD20 antigen found on the surface of B cells, leading to B-cell depletion through various mechanisms including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and complement-dependent cytotoxicity.
