Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Andovir is a topical oral combination product developed by Mycotech Pharma, formulated as a mouth spray for the prevention of viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2, colds, and flu. The product consists of AndoSan—a natural extract derived from three mushrooms (primarily *Agaricus blazei Murill*, along with *Hericium erinaceus* and *Grifola frondosa*)—and extracts from the *Cistus* plant. AndoSan has demonstrated immunomodulating properties and has been shown in cell assays to inhibit the binding of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to ACE2 receptors by up to 40%, potentially blocking viral entry into host cells. *Cistus* is a traditional medicinal plant used for its antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects. Launched in February 2024, Andovir is positioned as a dietary supplement or OTC-style preventive health product.
