An anti-FGF1 neutralizing antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to specifically bind to and inhibit the biological activity of Fibroblast Growth Factor 1 (FGF1), also known as acidic fibroblast growth factor. FGF1 is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family that plays a critical role in cell proliferation, survival, and angiogenesis by signaling through fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs). In oncological research, particularly in melanoma, FGF1 is often secreted by tumor cells to promote autocrine growth and paracrine stimulation of endothelial cells, facilitating tumor vascularization. Neutralizing antibodies against FGF1 are utilized to sequester the growth factor in the extracellular environment, thereby blocking its interaction with FGFRs and suppressing downstream signaling pathways involved in tumor progression and angiogenesis.
