Overview

Anti-PECAM-1 monoclonal antibody is a therapeutic biologic designed to target Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (PECAM-1), also known as CD31. Developed by Genomic Systems in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania and California Pacific Medical Center, this antibody targets PECAM-1 on vascular endothelial cells (VECs). PECAM-1 functions as a molecular switch that regulates advanced metastatic progression (AMP) by controlling the release of VEC-derived paracrine growth factors. By inhibiting this pathway, the antibody aims to suppress the progression of advanced metastatic cancers, including melanoma, lymphoma, and colon cancer. Preclinical studies in mouse models demonstrated significant improvements in overall survival, even in cases of high tumor burden. While Phase 1 trials were anticipated around 2014, the current clinical status of this specific program remains unclear.
