Overview

An antibody designed to neutralize proplatelet basic protein (PPBP), also known as CXCL7. PPBP is a member of the CXC chemokine family primarily derived from platelets and, as recently identified, adipose tissue macrophages in the context of chronic inflammation. In preclinical models of psoriasis-associated atherosclerosis, PPBP has been shown to induce mitochondrial dysfunction in aortic endothelial cells via the ZNG1F pathway. Treatment with anti-PPBP antibodies has demonstrated efficacy in reducing atherosclerotic plaque formation in ApoE-deficient mice, suggesting that targeting the PPBP-CXCL7 axis may provide a therapeutic strategy for mitigating cardiovascular risk in patients with systemic inflammatory conditions like psoriasis.
