Overview

The anti-TK1 polyclonal antibody is a biologic agent that targets Thymidine Kinase 1 (TK1), an enzyme traditionally associated with the DNA salvage pathway and typically located in the cytosol. Research has identified that TK1 is specifically upregulated and translocated to the plasma membrane in a wide variety of malignant cancer cells, including those of the breast, lung, colon, and prostate, while remaining largely absent from the surface of normal cells. This antibody is utilized as a diagnostic tool in flow cytometry to identify cancerous cells and is being investigated as a potential molecular target for immunotherapy. The development of this agent has been primarily associated with research conducted at Brigham Young University.
