**Antithymocyte immunoglobulin rabbit** is a rabbit-derived polyclonal immunoglobulin G preparation produced by immunizing rabbits with human thymocytes. It contains cytotoxic antibodies against multiple T-lymphocyte surface antigens and produces broad T-cell depletion and immunosuppression through complement-dependent cytotoxicity, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, apoptosis, and modulation of T-cell activation and trafficking. Marketed as **Thymoglobulin**, it is approved for prophylaxis and treatment of acute kidney-transplant rejection when used with concomitant immunosuppression. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for intravenous infusion and is also used in transplant-conditioning and graft-versus-host disease prevention protocols.
