Overview

AP05 is a rituximab biosimilar monoclonal antibody being developed by Aprogen, a South Korean biopharmaceutical company. It is a chimeric monoclonal antibody designed to target CD20, a cell surface protein predominantly expressed on B lymphocytes. As a biosimilar to the reference drug Rituxan (rituximab), AP05 functions as a B-cell depleting agent. Its mechanism of action involves binding to CD20 and inducing cell death through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). The drug is currently in Phase I clinical development for the treatment of lymphoma, with the goal of providing a more affordable therapeutic option while maintaining the efficacy and safety profile of the original biologic.
