Overview

ARQ-252 + NB-UVB phototherapy is an experimental combination therapy evaluated for the treatment of non-segmental facial vitiligo. **ARQ-252** is a topical formulation containing SHR0302, a highly selective Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) inhibitor small molecule, which targets inflammatory pathways involved in autoimmune skin disorders. **NB-UVB phototherapy** (narrowband ultraviolet B) is a non-pharmacological light therapy used as standard care for various inflammatory and pigmentary skin diseases, including vitiligo. The rationale for the combination is to potentially enhance efficacy through dual targeted immunomodulation (JAK1 inhibition) and photostimulation of repigmentation, as each therapy targets parallel but distinct vitiligo pathology mechanisms. This specific combination was under investigation in a double-blind, vehicle-controlled Phase 2a proof-of-concept clinical trial, but the trial was terminated early due to inadequate topical drug delivery of ARQ-252, not safety concerns[1][2][3][4][5].
