Artemisia sieversiana pollen allergen extract is a standardized sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) solution used for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and allergic asthma triggered by Artemisia (mugwort) pollen. Developed and manufactured by Zhejiang Wolwo Bio-pharmaceutical under the brand name Aishu, it is the first Artemisia-specific SLIT product approved in China. The therapy works by inducing immune tolerance through the sublingual administration of increasing doses of the allergen. This process modulates the immune system by shifting the T-cell response from a pro-allergic Th2 profile to a regulatory Th1/Treg profile, characterized by increased production of IL-10 and TGF-beta, a reduction in allergen-specific IgE levels, and an increase in protective IgG4 antibodies. It is particularly effective for patients in Northern and Western China, where Artemisia pollen is a major seasonal allergen.
