Avicenna CSF-1R inhibitor is an early-stage drug candidate developed by Avicenna Biosciences for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The drug is designed to inhibit the Colony Stimulating Factor 1 Receptor (CSF-1R), a tyrosine kinase receptor that is crucial for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of microglia in the central nervous system (CNS). By targeting CSF-1R, the candidate aims to modulate microglial activation and reduce neuroinflammation, which are key drivers of disease progression in neurodegenerative disorders. Developed using Avicenna's machine learning and artificial intelligence platform, the program focuses on achieving high CNS penetrance. It is currently in the preclinical stage, specifically undergoing in vitro validation.
