Drug intelligence / Profile preview
B-CD13 is an experimental peptide designed to block CD13 (also known as Aminopeptidase N) signaling. Research presented at the AHA 2023 meeting suggests that CD13 activation mediates a phenotypic switch from pericytes to proliferative smooth muscle cell-like cells in pulmonary hypertension (PH). In animal models (NFU1 rats), treatment with B-CD13 attenuated right ventricular systolic pressure, reduced vascular remodeling, and improved pericyte-endothelial cell interactions. It also reduced the high proliferation rates of isolated pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMC) from PH patients.
