Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Baricitinib + dexamethasone is a combination therapy that has been studied for the treatment of COVID-19. Both drugs have anti-inflammatory properties but work through different mechanisms. Baricitinib is a JAK inhibitor that blocks inflammatory cytokine signaling, while dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid that suppresses inflammatory responses. Clinical trials have compared the efficacy and safety of these drugs when used individually in combination with remdesivir, but the combination of both drugs together has shown potential for improving outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients with severe disease.
