basiliximab + prednisolone

This combination consists of basiliximab, a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-2 receptor α-chain (CD25), and prednisolone, a corticosteroid. Basiliximab functions as an IL-2 receptor antagonist by binding with high affinity to the CD25 antigen on activated T-lymphocytes, preventing IL-2 binding and inhibiting T-cell activation involved in allograft rejection. This combination is used primarily in transplantation medicine to prevent organ rejection, particularly in kidney transplant patients. The combination has also shown potential effectiveness in treating steroid-resistant ulcerative colitis.
