Overview

Bevabell is a biosimilar of the monoclonal antibody bevacizumab, developed by CKD OTTO Pharmaceuticals, a joint venture between Chong Kun Dang Pharm Corp and PT Otto Pharmaceutical Industries. It is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody designed to target vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By binding to VEGF-A, Bevabell prevents its interaction with the receptors VEGFR-1 (Flt-1) and VEGFR-2 (KDR) on the surface of endothelial cells. This inhibition suppresses the process of tumor angiogenesis, thereby restricting the blood supply necessary for tumor growth and metastasis. Administered via intravenous infusion, Bevabell is approved for the treatment of multiple solid tumors, including metastatic colorectal cancer, non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer, metastatic triple-negative breast cancer, ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, and cervical cancer.
