Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Blontress is a caninized anti–B‑cell monoclonal antibody, also referred to as blontuvetmab or AT-004, developed for use in dogs with B‑cell lymphoma. It was licensed by the USDA as a veterinary biologic to be used as an aid in the treatment of canine B‑cell lymphoma, typically in conjunction with multi‑agent chemotherapy such as CHOP protocols.[1][4][9][7] The antibody was designed to target a B‑cell surface antigen, originally described as a CD20‑like target, to promote immune-mediated clearance of malignant B cells, although later reports indicated that its specificity for canine CD20 was less than expected and in vivo B‑cell depletion was not clearly demonstrated.[5][7][13] Blontress was developed and commercialized in the veterinary oncology field by Aratana Therapeutics as one of the first monoclonal antibody cancer therapeutics for dogs.[4][9]
