Bornyl acetate is a bicyclic monoterpene ester and a significant component of essential oils derived from various plants, particularly conifers in the Pinaceae family and medicinal herbs such as *Houttuynia cordata* and *Amomum villosum*. It is recognized for its diverse pharmacological profile, including anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, neuroprotective, and antioxidant activities. In oncology research, bornyl acetate has demonstrated the ability to inhibit the growth, invasion, and migration of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) by suppressing the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and modulating the tumor microenvironment through the induction of M1 macrophage polarization via p65/STAT4 activation. It also shows promise in treating ulcerative colitis by inhibiting the NF-κB pathway and restoring intestinal barrier integrity. Furthermore, bornyl acetate exhibits neuroprotective effects in Alzheimer's disease models by downregulating NARC-1/PCSK-9 and reducing amyloid deposition. Beyond its therapeutic potential, it is utilized as a flavoring agent, fragrance, and potent insect repellent.
