Overview

VIPER is a combination chemotherapy regimen primarily investigated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The regimen incorporates the proteasome inhibitor bortezomib (Velcade) and the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab into the DICE backbone, which consists of dexamethasone, ifosfamide, cisplatin, and etoposide. By combining targeted biological therapy with intensive multi-agent chemotherapy, the VIPER regimen aims to overcome drug resistance in aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Clinical trials have evaluated its efficacy in achieving complete and partial response rates and its ability to facilitate subsequent autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with chemo-resistant disease.
