c-JUN siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the c-Jun protein, a critical component of the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor complex. By targeting the mRNA of the JUN gene, this siRNA prevents the translation of c-Jun, thereby inhibiting its downstream signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation, migration, and survival. In oncological research, c-JUN siRNA has been investigated for its ability to suppress the growth and metastasis of various cancers, including pancreatic, prostate, and melanoma, often by downregulating oncogenic targets like PKC-ι or matrix metalloproteinases. It is also used in respiratory research to study the regulation of inflammatory receptors in airway smooth muscle cells.
