Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CalmIV-E is a branded generic combination medication marketed by Eldora (El-Dorado Biotech) in India, primarily indicated for the management of anxiety disorders and comorbid depression. The drug is composed of two active ingredients: etizolam and escitalopram. Etizolam is a thienodiazepine derivative that acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA-A receptor, facilitating inhibitory neurotransmission to provide rapid-onset anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle relaxant effects. Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases synaptic serotonin levels by inhibiting the serotonin transporter (SERT), thereby addressing underlying depressive symptoms. This combination is frequently utilized in clinical practice to manage patients who require both immediate relief from acute anxiety and long-term stabilization of mood.
