CAR-T therapy (Mingzhi Zhang) refers to a clinical-stage program of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies developed and evaluated by Dr. Mingzhi Zhang at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. This investigator-initiated program focuses on treating relapsed or refractory (R/R) hematological malignancies, including B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), various B-cell lymphomas, and multiple myeloma. The therapy involves the ex vivo genetic modification of a patient's autologous T cells to express synthetic receptors targeting specific antigens: CD19, CD20, or CD22 for B-cell malignancies, and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) for multiple myeloma. Following lymphodepleting chemotherapy, the engineered CAR-T cells are re-infused into the patient, where they recognize and eliminate malignant cells expressing the target antigens through direct cytotoxic activity.
