Overview

A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of carboplatin, cetuximab, imprime PGG, and paclitaxel. This regimen combines platinum-based chemotherapy (carboplatin), a taxane (paclitaxel), an EGFR-targeting monoclonal antibody (cetuximab), and an immunomodulator (imprime PGG). The combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (SCCHN). Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that works by binding to DNA and interfering with cell division. Paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules, preventing cell division. Cetuximab targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), blocking cell growth signaling pathways. Imprime PGG is likely an immunomodulator that may enhance the efficacy of the other components.
