Overview

CART20 is an autologous anti-CD20 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Beijing Biohealthcare Biotechnology for the treatment of relapsed or refractory CD20-positive B-cell lymphomas. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells using a retroviral vector to express a CAR construct. This construct consists of a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) specific for the CD20 antigen, coupled with intracellular signaling domains from CD28 and CD3 zeta to provide both activation and costimulatory signals. Upon infusion following lymphodepleting preconditioning chemotherapy, these engineered T cells recognize and eliminate malignant B cells expressing the CD20 protein. CART20 has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials, demonstrating potential efficacy and safety in patients with chemotherapy-resistant B-cell malignancies.
