Overview

CD19 CAR-T cells + BCMA CAR-T cells is a combination immunotherapy consisting of two separate chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell products—one targeting the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and the other targeting CD19. This approach is designed to treat relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma by simultaneously targeting both antigens, thereby reducing the risk of antigen escape and relapse. The mechanism involves engineering patient-derived or allogeneic T lymphocytes to express synthetic receptors that recognize either CD19 or BCMA on malignant plasma cells. Clinical studies have shown that this dual infusion strategy is feasible, with high response rates in heavily pretreated multiple myeloma patients and an acceptable safety profile characterized mainly by hematologic toxicities and cytokine release syndrome[1][2][4]. Early-phase trials suggest promising efficacy for this combination in both advanced and early lines of multiple myeloma treatment[1][2].
