CD20 CAR UNi-T is an investigational allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the CD20 antigen, which is highly expressed on the surface of B-cell malignancies. Developed by Shanghai Unicell Biopharma using its proprietary UNi-T (Universal T-cell) platform, the therapy utilizes healthy donor-derived T-cells that are genetically modified to express a CD20-specific CAR. To enable off-the-shelf use and minimize the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and host-mediated rejection, the cells undergo gene editing, typically using CRISPR-Cas9 technology to knock out the T-cell receptor (TCR) and HLA class I molecules. This approach aims to provide a more accessible and rapidly available treatment option compared to autologous CAR-T therapies for patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) and other B-cell malignancies.
