Overview
CD56 CAR T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting CD56 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule 1, NCAM-1). CD56 is a cell surface glycoprotein frequently overexpressed in various hematologic and solid malignancies, including NK/T-cell lymphomas, small cell lung cancer (SCLC), neuroblastoma, and glioma. The therapy involves the genetic modification of T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes CD56, enabling the T cells to identify and eliminate CD56-expressing tumor cells. It is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for NK/T-cell malignancies and in preclinical studies for various neuroendocrine and neurological tumors.
