Cefotaxime + gamma globulin is a combination therapy consisting of cefotaxime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, and gamma globulin (intravenous immunoglobulin, IVIG). Cefotaxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through high affinity binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in bactericidal activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Gamma globulin is an immune-enhancing preparation containing IgG antibodies with broad-spectrum antiviral and antibacterial activity; it provides both immune replacement and immunomodulatory effects by increasing circulating IgG levels and modulating the host immune response. This combination has been studied primarily for the treatment of severe infections such as neonatal septicemia, where it may improve clinical outcomes by combining direct antibacterial action with enhanced host immunity[1][2].
