This is a combination of three antibiotics—ciprofloxacin, rifampicin (also known as rifampin), and vancomycin—used together for the treatment of severe or resistant bacterial infections. This combination may be considered in complex infections such as prosthetic joint infections (PJI), endocarditis, osteomyelitis, or device-related infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms like Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) or coagulase-negative staphylococci. The rationale for combining these agents includes broadening antibacterial coverage and reducing the risk of resistance emergence; however, clinical evidence suggests variable efficacy depending on infection type and pathogen susceptibility[1][2][4]. Adverse effects can include nephrotoxicity (vancomycin), hepatotoxicity (rifampicin), gastrointestinal disturbances, rash, and potential drug-drug interactions.
