Overview

CMS-D017 is an investigational oral small molecule inhibitor of complement factor B (CFB), developed by Shenzhen Kangzhe Biotechnology (a subsidiary of China Medical System Holdings). It specifically targets the alternative complement pathway by inhibiting factor B, a critical component required for the formation of the C3 convertase (C3bBb). By blocking this pathway, CMS-D017 aims to prevent the uncontrolled complement activation responsible for intravascular and extravascular hemolysis in paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), as well as the inflammatory damage seen in various complement-mediated renal diseases such as IgA nephropathy and C3 glomerulopathy. The compound is currently in Phase I clinical development in China, focusing on safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamic profiles in healthy participants.
