Compound sodium acetate and glucose injection is a balanced crystalloid solution designed for intravenous administration to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance and provide a source of energy. It contains a combination of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride) along with sodium acetate and glucose. Sodium acetate acts as a buffering agent that is metabolized to bicarbonate, helping to maintain acid-base balance and prevent metabolic acidosis during the perioperative period.
