Concha ostreae, known as Sheng Muli in Chinese, is a traditional Chinese medicinal material derived from the shells of oysters, primarily *Ostrea gigas*, *Ostrea talienwhanensis*, or *Ostrea rivularis*. It is composed mainly of calcium carbonate, along with various trace elements and amino acids. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is utilized for its ability to anchor liver yang, calm the spirit (Shen), soften hardness, and dissipate nodules. Clinically, it is incorporated into various formulas for the treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions such as tic disorders, insomnia, and anxiety, as well as for chronic kidney disease and premature ejaculation. Research indicates that it may contribute to neuroprotective effects by modulating the Galectin-3/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway and promoting axonal regeneration. Additionally, it is studied for its role in preventing bone loss and enhancing calcium deposition in conditions of simulated weightlessness.
