COR852 is an orally available **small molecule inhibitor of arginine gingipain (RGP)**, a cysteine endopeptidase expressed by the periodontal pathogen *Porphyromonas gingivalis*. By targeting and inhibiting arginine gingipain, COR852 aims to block bacterial protease function implicated in periodontal disease and potentially other conditions associated with *P. gingivalis*. The drug was initially developed by Cortexyme, later known as Quince Therapeutics, and subsequently acquired by Lighthouse Pharmaceuticals. It represents a new molecular entity and is currently in the preclinical development stage, primarily indicated for periodontal disorders[1][5][7].
