Overview

CP-IL22BP mRNA (Cationic Peptide-IL22BP mRNA) is an investigational mRNA-based immunogene therapy developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University. The drug consists of mRNA encoding the Interleukin-22 Binding Protein (IL-22BP), a natural soluble inhibitory receptor that acts as an antagonist to Interleukin-22 (IL-22). IL-22 is a cytokine known to promote tumor progression and inflammation in various cancers; by delivering mRNA that expresses IL-22BP directly into the tumor, the therapy aims to neutralize IL-22 and inhibit tumor growth. The mRNA is delivered using a cationic peptide (CP) delivery system designed to facilitate intratumoral uptake. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT07040943) for patients with refractory advanced malignant solid tumors.
