Curcumin + interferon beta-1a is a combination therapy consisting of curcumin, a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and interferon beta-1a, a recombinant protein used as an immunomodulatory agent in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). Curcumin acts by modulating inflammatory pathways and oxidative stress, while interferon beta-1a reduces disease activity in MS by modulating immune responses. This combination has been investigated as an add-on therapy for relapsing multiple sclerosis to assess potential synergistic effects on inflammation and neurodegeneration. Clinical studies suggest that curcumin may enhance the radiological efficacy of interferon beta-1a on certain MRI markers of inflammation but does not provide additional neuroprotective or clinical benefit over interferon beta-1a alone[1][4].
