Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: - Cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA, leading to cell death, primarily used as an immunosuppressant and antineoplastic. - Methylprednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. - Prednisolone, another synthetic glucocorticoid similar to methylprednisolone but with slightly different pharmacokinetics. The combination of these agents is used in the management of severe autoimmune diseases (such as lupus nephritis) and certain cancers. Cyclophosphamide suppresses immune cell proliferation by interfering with DNA replication. Methylprednisolone and prednisolone reduce inflammation by modulating gene expression through the glucocorticoid receptor pathway. The combined use aims to maximize immunosuppression or anti-tumor effects while balancing toxicity profiles[1][3][5].
