A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of cytarabine, etoposide, and pirarubicin. This regimen was specifically designed as a less intensive chemotherapeutic approach for patients with Down syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Studies by the Japanese Childhood AML Cooperative Study Group have shown excellent outcomes with this combination, achieving a 97.2% complete remission rate and an estimated 4-year event-free survival rate of 83% in AML-DS patients.
