Overview

DC-rIL-2-VMO is an experimental allogeneic cellular vaccine designed for the treatment of melanoma. It is a complex biological product composed of three primary components: five distinct melanoma cell lines, autologous or allogeneic dendritic cells, and a recombinant vaccinia virus engineered to express interleukin-2 (IL-2). The vaccine aims to stimulate a robust anti-tumor immune response by utilizing dendritic cells to present a broad array of melanoma-associated antigens from the cell lines, while the recombinant IL-2 acts as a potent cytokine to enhance T-cell activation and proliferation. Clinical research has demonstrated that DC-rIL-2-VMO can induce both cellular and humoral immune responses, including the generation of tumor-specific antibodies in patients with resected Stage III or IV melanoma.
