Decursin is a **pyranocoumarin compound** (C19H20O5) isolated mainly from the roots of *Angelica gigas*, a medicinal plant in the Umbelliferae family[1][2][4][5][7]. It is a rare secondary metabolite and has been used in traditional folk medicine. Mechanistically, decursin exhibits pleiotropic bioactivities, including **anticancer**, **anti-inflammatory**, **anti-angiogenic**, **anti-obesity**, **antibacterial**, and **neuroprotective effects**. In cancer, it inhibits cell proliferation, angiogenesis, metastasis, and invasion, induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, and modulates pathways such as the MAPK/ERK1/2, PI3K/AKT, Pin1/p53, and Bcl-2/Bax[1]. It also affects VEGF-induced angiogenesis by blocking VEGFR-2 activation and can suppress JAK2/STAT3 signaling[1]. Neuroprotective mechanisms include inhibition of Acetylcholine esterase, reduction of glutamate-induced calcium influx, activation of antioxidative defense (Nrf2/HO-1 path), and inhibition of Aβ aggregation[4].
