efgartigimod + ofatumumab is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG). Efgartigimod is a human IgG1 antibody fragment that binds to the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), preventing the recycling of IgG and thereby reducing the levels of pathogenic autoantibodies. Ofatumumab is a human monoclonal antibody that targets the CD20 antigen on B cells, leading to their depletion and subsequently reducing the production of new autoantibodies. This combination, being studied by Peking University People's Hospital, aims to provide a synergistic effect by both clearing existing autoantibodies and inhibiting the formation of new ones, potentially offering a more robust therapeutic response for patients with refractory or severe gMG.
