EQ302 is a first-in-class, second-generation, orally delivered stapled peptide that acts as a selective bi-specific inhibitor of the cytokines interleukin-15 (IL-15) and interleukin-21 (IL-21). It is derived from its parent molecule EQ102 and has been engineered for increased stability and permeability in the gastrointestinal tract through hydrocarbon stapling. The drug targets IL-15 and IL-21 at the receptor level by binding to CD132, thereby inhibiting their signaling pathways. This dual inhibition approach aims to address aggressive inflammatory responses in gastrointestinal (GI) and skin diseases while avoiding broad immunosuppression associated with JAK inhibitors. EQ302 is being developed primarily for GI disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and skin inflammation. The developer is Equillium[1][2][3][4][5][7].
