FBTA05 is a trifunctional bispecific monoclonal antibody designed to target both CD3 on T cells and CD20 on B cells. By binding simultaneously to these antigens and engaging Fc receptor–bearing accessory immune cells through its Fc region, FBTA05 brings together T cells, CD20-expressing tumor B-cells (such as those found in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia), and antigen-presenting or accessory immune cells into tricellular complexes. This results in potent cytotoxic T-lymphocyte responses against the tumor B-cells. The drug has demonstrated the ability to mediate efficient killing of B-cell lymphoma cells even with low levels of CD20 expression and can activate both autologous T-cell responses and accessory cell activation. It is being developed primarily for hematological malignancies such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma (including diffuse large B cell lymphoma) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia[1][2][4][5][7].
