Overview

This combination therapy is being investigated as a first-line treatment for severe acute intestinal graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The regimen integrates three distinct therapeutic modalities: fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) to restore gut microbial diversity and intestinal barrier integrity; ruxolitinib, a small molecule Janus kinase (JAK) 1/2 inhibitor that blocks pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling; and methylprednisolone, a standard-of-care glucocorticoid for broad immunosuppression. This multi-targeted approach aims to improve response rates in patients who typically show poor outcomes with steroid monotherapy. The clinical evaluation is led by St. Petersburg State Pavlov Medical University.
