Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of ferric carboxymaltose and infliximab, administered sequentially in a single treatment session, primarily for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who have iron deficiency anemia or iron-restricted anemia. Ferric carboxymaltose is an intravenous iron replacement product that replenishes depleted iron stores and corrects anemia by providing bioavailable iron for erythropoiesis. Infliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody targeting tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), used to reduce inflammation in autoimmune diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Studies indicate that same-day administration of these agents is safe, effective, improves hematological parameters, and offers cost and time savings compared to separate administrations[1][2][3].
