flunitrazepam + haloperidol

This is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs, flunitrazepam and haloperidol. Flunitrazepam is a potent benzodiazepine with hypnotic, sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant properties. It acts primarily by enhancing the effect of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA at GABA-A receptors. Haloperidol is a typical antipsychotic (neuroleptic) that works mainly as an antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors in the brain. The combination has been studied for rapid control of acute agitation or aggressive behavior in psychiatric emergencies; both agents exhibit antiaggressive activity when administered intramuscularly to acutely psychotic patients[1][3][5]. Flunitrazepam provides rapid onset sedation while haloperidol offers sustained antipsychotic effects.
