Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HanShiYi decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed and used in China for the treatment of COVID-19 and related respiratory diseases. It is a multi-herb combination designed to dispel cold and dampness, clear heat, resolve phlegm, and support lung function. The formula contains several herbs with known anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immunomodulatory properties. Key ingredients identified include Atractylodis rhizoma (Atractylodes lancea), Citri reticulatae pericarpium (Citrus reticulata), Pogostemonis herba (Pogostemon cablin), Ephedrae herba (Ephedra sinica), Magnoliae officinalis cortex (Magnolia officinalis), Tsaoko fructus (Amomum tsao-ko), Zingiberis rhizoma recens (fresh ginger root), Arecae semen (Areca catechu seed), Notopterygii rhizoma et radix (Notopterygium incisum). The mechanism of action is believed to involve modulation of inflammatory pathways, inhibition of viral replication, regulation of immune responses, and improvement in respiratory symptoms[6]. It was widely used during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of integrated TCM protocols.
