Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Haoqin Qingdan Tang (HQQDT), also known as Haoqin Qingdan Decoction, is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) multi-herb formula first recorded in the Qing-dynasty text *Chong Ding Tong Su Shang Han Lun* by Yu Genchu. It is traditionally used to clear damp-heat from the gallbladder and Shaoyang channel, making it a standard treatment for jaundice, cholecystitis, and viral infections. The formula typically consists of eight to eleven herbal components, including *Artemisia annua* (Qinghao), *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin), *Bambusa tuldoides* (Zhuru), *Pinellia ternata* (Banxia), *Citrus aurantium* (Zhiqiao), *Citrus reticulata* (Chenpi), *Poria cocos* (Fuling), and Biyu powder (talcum, licorice, and indigo). Modern pharmacological research has demonstrated that HQQDT possesses potent anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antiviral properties. It is being investigated for its therapeutic potential in cholestatic liver disease, influenza A, COVID-19, and as an immune-reconstitution therapy to enhance CD4+ T-cell recovery in HIV/AIDS patients.
