Overview

HE-MD11 is a monoclonal antibody (IgG) developed by Longhorn Vaccines and Diagnostics that targets bacterial peptidoglycan (PGN). Peptidoglycan is a structural component of bacterial cell walls that can leak into the systemic circulation (metabolic endotoxemia) or cross the blood-brain barrier, contributing to chronic inflammation and 'inflammaging'. By binding to PGN and PGN-containing components, HE-MD11 is designed to neutralize these pro-inflammatory molecules and facilitate their immune clearance via opsonization. The drug is being developed for the treatment of metabolic diseases and neuroinflammatory diseases, where PGN-driven inflammation is thought to play a significant role in disease progression.
